About Us

Anugraha Charitable Trust [ACT] was conceived with a vision of serving the not so privileged communities, through education, equipment, and empowerment. We are a Bangalore based NGO registered under the ‘Indian Trust Act 1882’ in 2023. After working for 25 years in the non-profit sector for various international and Indian organisations, from field worker to the position of Director, our founding team firmly believes that education of children is the key to break cycle of generational poverty. Along with education, there is a need to equip the parents of children with the resources needed to support their children. And then empower both the children and parents to face the challenges of life and break the cycle of poverty.

Regions

We are in Bangalore at present, working in Government schools. Vision is to expand to Madhya Pradesh and work for addressing malnutrition among the tribal children and families. We are open to work wherever there is need.

Our Work and Programs

ACT - EDUQIP

We believe in empowering the children and their communities, so that they become independent and become contributing citizens. We have devised a program called ‘Educational Quality Improvement Program [EDUQIP]’ with aim to educate the children, equip the parents and empower the communities that the children live in. Our experience of working with communities in various parts of India, taught that for children to succeed in education, parents support is of paramount importance. In underprivileged communities, most of the fathers are alcoholics and they live in one or two room chawls. Children do not get conducive environment at home for studies. Parents are to be made aware and counseled about their children education.

ACT - Nutrition

It is said that a healthy mind in a healthy body. Unless there is proper food to eat which gives adequate nutrients to the body, the children cannot concentrate on their studies. Malnourished bodies lead to sickness and diseases. Good food is necessary even for the parents of the children. In most of the communities, even after working so hard, have two nutritious meals a day is not possible. To address this issue, we are providing hot nutritious meals to the community members, in the evening.

Those children who are severely malnourished are taken for health checkup and also medical treatment. Nutritious food is given to them for a month so that they improve their health and do well in life as well as studies. An integrated program to address the issue of malnutrition is designed and ready to be implemented in Dhar District of Madhya Pradesh, where this issue is quite severe.
